John Lennon's Revolver LP contribution Doctor Robert was The Beatles first undisguised reference to drugs. It tells the story of a real life doctor, Robert Freymann, a 60 year old physician from Germany who practiced out of his East 78th street clinic in New York City.

Jul 05,  · The Beatles recorded their share of mysterious tracks such as “I am the Walrus” or even the self-parody “Glass Onion.” Critics still analyze possible meanings of “Strawberry Fields Forever” or weird experiments like “What’s the New Mary Jane.” But the Revolver track “Doctor Robert” still baffles critics and fans alike. General Commenti was almost positive that this song referred to Dr. Robert of Pala, in Aldous Huxley's book "Island".Huxley is on Sgt. Pepper album, so I know the Beatles were fond of him. Also, in the book, Dr. Robert is the administer and main supporter of "moksha medicine" (which is I believe psilocybin syntesized into a pill, it's either that or some other hallucinogen) for NATIONAL HEALTH 5/5(2).

All the rules fell by the wayside with Revolver, as the Beatles began exploring new sonic territory, lyrical subjects, and styles of composition. It wasn't just Lennon and McCartney, either -- Harrison staked out his own dark territory with the tightly wound, cynical rocker "Taxman"; the jaunty yet dissonant "I Want to Tell You"; and "Love You To," George's first and best foray into Indian music/

Find out how the lyrics to the Beatles song Dr. Robert from the album Revolver were written. John Lennon mainly wrote the lyrics to the Beatles Doctor Robert song but Paul McCartney helped out with the middle eight sections. The song is based upon Doctor Robert Freymann who practiced on East 78 th .
